About the blog
October 8th, 2009
One night at hockey practise horndog and I got chatting about mountain biking and the Epic in particular. As most things like this go we started joking about taking on “the beast” that is the ABSA Cape Epic. After a few jokes about the Epic at hockey practices I entered the lottery. I mean, what are the chances of actually getting an entry for such a prestigeous race? As luck would have it we received an entry via the lottery system. It was a sign. WE HAD TO DO THE EPIC! So after many months of unrelenting training and races in-between , including the Sabie Experience (our very first stage race), we found ourselves standing in the starting shoot, about to start the most difficult, yet most rewarding week of our lives to date!
So what is the reason for doing this site if we’ve already done the Epic? Well, What an unbelievable experience it was doing the Epic, and one that we instantly wanted to do again and again. We were lucky enough to get an entry for the ABSA Cape Epic 2010 (thanks to our friend Laura), and why wouldn’t a person want to share such an amazing journey with people. Doing this site gives us the opportunity to share everything that doing the Epic entails. Our aim is to update the blog on a regular basis with training rides we do, races we do. Pretty much anything that is involved in taking on a Journey to the Epic will be covered on our blog.
We hope that you enjoy following our Journey, as much as we will enjoy sharing it with you.
Remember an event such as the Epic requires lots of TITS (Time In The Saddle).
